About Our Practice

What is Synchronous Mental Health?

Synchronous Mental Health is a psychiatric practice based in Portland, Oregon. Our psychiatric nurse practitioners provide psychiatric evaluation and medication management for adults, in person in Portland and by telehealth in Oregon, Washington, Florida, and California.

Who do you treat?

We treat adults. Conditions we help with include depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, adult ADHD, sleep-wake disorders, addiction and substance use concerns, and women’s mental health, including hormonal and reproductive-related mood changes.

Who will I see?

You will meet with a psychiatric nurse practitioner. For follow-up visits, you will see the same provider, so they know your history and goals.

Do you provide therapy?

Our focus is psychiatric evaluation and medication management. If therapy would help you, we can talk through options and referrals.

Telehealth

How do I become a patient?

You can schedule an appointment online or contact our office. See our new patient information for what to expect.

What happens at the first appointment?

Your first visit is a comprehensive psychiatric assessment. Your provider will ask about your symptoms, history, medications, and goals, and you will talk through options together.

How soon can I be seen?

Availability depends on provider schedules. Contact our office to ask about current wait times.

Do I need a referral?

Contact our office to ask about getting started. Our team will explain whether your insurance plan requires a referral.

Treatment and Medication

Will I be prescribed medication?

Not necessarily. You and your provider decide together whether medication is appropriate. If it is, we aim to build your plan with the fewest medications necessary.

How do you decide on a treatment plan?

Your plan is based on your assessment, your history, and your goals. We review it regularly and adjust it as your needs change.

Can you prescribe controlled substances?

This depends on your situation and applicable laws. Your provider can explain what applies to you.

What if I am already taking medication?

Bring a list to your first visit. Your provider will review it with you before suggesting any changes. Do not stop a prescribed medication on your own.

faqs

Insurance and Costs

Do you accept insurance?

We accept most major insurance plans, and our team can help you understand your coverage. See our insurance and pricing page.

What if I do not have insurance?

Contact our office to ask about self-pay options.

Will I know the cost before I begin?

Our team can help you check your coverage so you have a clearer picture before your first visit.
