What We Treat

Do Your Moods Feel Like They're Running the Show?

Stretches of energy so high you barely need sleep, followed by lows so heavy you can’t get out of bed. Decisions that made sense in the moment and don’t look the same a week later. Bipolar disorder affects mood, energy, sleep, and judgment, and its pattern looks different from person to person. Some people go months or years between episodes, while others cycle more often or experience symptoms of both at once.

Bipolar disorder can involve:

  • Periods of elevated mood, racing thoughts, or unusually high energy
  • Decreased need for sleep without feeling tired
  • Impulsive spending, risk-taking, or reckless decisions
  • Depressive episodes with hopelessness, guilt, or loss of interest
  • Sleeping far more or far less than usual
  • In some cases, hallucinations, delusions, or thoughts of suicide

If you’re having thoughts of suicide, call or text 988 or visit our Crisis/Emergency Resources page. Do not wait for a scheduled appointment.

Almost 10 million Americans live with bipolar disorder, most experiencing their first symptoms in their mid-twenties.

Synchronous Mental Health performs bipolar disorder assessments to classify patients with one of the four types (bipolar 1, bipolar 2, cyclothymia, or “unspecified”). Then, we educate and support individuals to empower them to find the right balance of wellness (exercise, meditation, prayer, etc.), and medication.

If you’ve struggled with episodes of mild to severe depression and mania in your life and often feel as though your mood and energy are out of control, schedule an initial consultation with Synchronous Mental Health.

Approach + Philosophy

Rediscover Hope For Your Future

We can help you through this time in your life! Our mission is to help you uncover your best self in a comfortable and supportive environment, all through the ease of virtual appointments that fit your schedule. Whether you’re seeking immediate support or long-term mental health strategies, we are here to assist you every step of the way.

Accurate Diagnosis Changes Everything

Bipolar disorder is frequently misdiagnosed as depression, sometimes for years, because people tend to seek help during the lows rather than the highs. That distinction matters: some antidepressants used on their own can destabilize mood in people with bipolar disorder. Getting the diagnosis right is the single most important step in effective bipolar treatment.

Our psychiatric evaluation looks at your full mood history, sleep patterns, family history, and past medication responses to determine whether you’re experiencing bipolar I, bipolar II, cyclothymia, or another mood condition, and to rule out what it isn’t.

Medication Management for Bipolar Disorder

Medication is the foundation of bipolar treatment. Depending on your diagnosis and history, your provider may prescribe a mood stabilizer, an atypical antipsychotic, or a combination tailored to prevent both manic and depressive episodes. Many of these medications require routine lab work to check levels and monitor your health, and we build that monitoring into your plan from the start.

Stability is the goal, not sedation. We adjust carefully and track how you’re feeling, sleeping, and functioning over time, so your treatment protects you from episodes without flattening the rest of your life.
